Andrew is reinforcing what I said in the above post. Whether it's a coach
or a sportswriter doing the timing, they start the clock at the "crack" of
the bat as it makes contact with the ball. Look at pictures of Ashburn or
Mantle and you will see "poetry in motion" in their execution of hitting
the ball.
