Default M101-2's - size variation?

Posted By: martin dalziel

If this has been covered previously i couldn't find it. I did use search, and learned a ton about M101-2's, but didn't find my answer.

I just picked up a nice group of 17 M101-2's from Ebay. They were listed as being 8 by 9 1/2; undersized based on the standard catalog sizing description, which states 8 x 10, together with other descriptions i've seen in auctions (See Lew's latest). All are consistent in noting 8 x 10. No matter, all in all the group I picked up was in pretty good condition and a good price for the lot, so even for potentially trimmed pieces i feel i still did well.

The group arrived today and all measure around 7 7/8 x 9 3/4, with no evidence of trimming whatsoever. The Standard catalog does state "8 x 10(though there was some size variation over the years)".

The earlist in my group dates from September 1910 and the latest March 1911.

Could people who have M101-2's in their collections go ahead and please post information about size variences, and note the various dimensions and dates if possible. I'm interested in understanding the 'size variation over the years' data a little more. Thanks.
