Default T-206 Shadow Box - Piedmont Pack and Card

Posted By: Jon Canfield

I was feeling "artsie" tonight so I decided to show off my newest creation!!! Recently, I purchased a very nice Piedmont pack on eBay. It was the outer shell only, but had a near complete August 5th, 1909 tax stamp on the reverse with no overprint. It was also from Factory 25, 2d Va. So, this is almost an unequivocal as you can get with a cigarette pack in terms of did it once hold a card... Using a piece of foam cut to the exact size of an inner slife, I made the pack have the appearance of being completely fill. I also used some early cardboard and made two "ends" for the pack, giving it a look that it still had its' original inner slide. (You would physically have to take the pack apart to be able to tell that there is no inner slide and it is only stuffing and cardboard made to give the appearance).

I then purchased a BEAUTIFUL 150 series Piedmont card from a board member that came from Factory 25, 2d Va. I next went to the LOC website and made a T-206 mosiac background. Using very thin plastic, I made a custom fit container for the card, and also created a revsible mounting bracket for the cigarette box. Lastly, I purchased a black wooden shadow box (6*8) size. Using a color printer, I printed the T-206 mosiac background and affixed it to the background of the shadow box. I then used the plastic mounting bracket for the pack and affixxed the card, back side facing forward, onto the mosiac background...

The end product - well you can see below. An absolutely original Piedmont pack, mounted next to an original Piedmont backed card (1909 pack from Factory 25 next to a 150 series card from Factory 25).

A beautiful piece for the wall now!!!
