Ted ZanidakisIt's the year I graduated High School. 1957 Chevys were the
hot car with their Fuel Injection. JAZZ was "jumping" in a
great NY nightspot called Birdland. I saw Dizzy Gillespie,
Jack Teagarden, Gerry Mulligan, Dave Brubeck Quartet, and
the inimitable Gene Krupa at Birdland back in the late '50s.
But, in Hillside, NJ "there was no joy in Mudville" in 1957
because our hope was fading fast that we'd ever again open
up those Red, White & Blue wax packs to have our favorite
Bubble gum and 5 colorful Bowman BB cards.
