But, then we take off for the Aegean Islands, and I highly
recommend Crete, Rhodes, and especially Santorini.
Santorini is a crescent shaped Island which is the rem-
nants of possibly the largest volcanic explosion in re-
corded history. The Island "blew" 3500 years ago and the
resulting tidal waves devasted all the civilizations in
the Eastern Mediterrean back then. In recent years they
have un-earthed an advanced civilization on this Island
that many historians believe is Atlantis.
You must go there by boat, for when you enter the 15 mile
wide harbor, you will be looking up at ancient volcanic
cliffs 1000 ft high. It is one of the most awesome sites
on this earth.
The Greeks for the most part speak pretty good English,
so you will have no problem there.
