I wasn't saying that Jeff Gordon wasn't popular just that it's not a good barometer to decide who is the most popular person in the world.

A quick search: LeBron James (3393), Muhammad Ali (1722), Sidney Crosby (2729), Tony Stewart (2538), George W. Bush (779), Michael Jordan (6893), Elvis Presley (13720), Garth Brooks (1107)....
