I just went to Alex's MVP in Manhattan on my lunch hour and am happy to report that there is still a place in NYC where you can walk in and buy tobacco cards -- I purchased three T-206 in VG-EX condition for a total of $80.00. Not too bad, given they have to pay rent.

They have a nice array of stuff spanning the 20th Century. I did not notice any big money cards, but there was lots of early 20th Century stuff to be had. And the guys there were cool to talk to.
