Josh K.I agree with Anson - if I felt that the card deserved the equivilent grade, I usually dont crack it out when I send it to sgc. I have never had them downgrade a card from gai unless it was one of the half grades that they dont have. On the other hand, I have had several psa 4s downgraded to sgc 40s). The only time I will crack a card out is if it is a half grade and I think it might bump up a grade - then I agree that you are more likely to get a bump up if SGC has no information as to the original grade.
I should also add that based on the value of your cards, you will have to crack them out to submit to sgc anyway as they no longer cross over cards valued at more than 500. They will of course still grade your cards, just not at the crossover service level.
