John- the prevailing consensus was always that the red background cards were hardest to find in the E98 set. Oranges seem to pop up all the time and blues were fairly common with green a little bit tougher. Now some of my E98 collecting friends seem to believe that maybe the greens are as tough as the reds. I still believe the red ones are the toughest based on a large number that I have owned or examined over the years.
Interestingly, the prevailing wisdom in the E94 set (which has 6 colors) was that violet was always considered far and away the toughest but now it appears that the gold background cards are as tough or maybe even a little tougher. Of course, all E94s are tough. For some reason the E94s have become less prevalent that even the E97s lately. I think he reason is fairly simple, there are 6 colors of each E94 card as opposed to one of each E97 and there are some master set collectors out there (guilty as charged) buying up what would otherwise be duplicates or upgrades. This has really contributed the E94s drying up. I know of at least 3 master set collectors who are very active and I am sure there are others out there lurking or who might not even use the internet...
