Default meant to follow up on the Wagner thread-- Context

Posted By: Scott Forrest

Some (not most) of Wagner and Cobb's peers put Wagner ahead of Cobb simply because they thought he was a better player - contributing to a team is more than individual statistics, a fact which is sorely lost on today's players and some modern analyses of past players' statistics.

For a great source of "straight from the horse's mouth" comments on Cobb and Wagner (and others) by their peers, pick up the "Glory of Their Times" 5-cd set.
