Default drum back question

Posted By: Damian

I smoked that Drum tobacco for years and have often wondered the same thing. Quite a coincedence if it is indeed not the same company or related to it somehow. I can concur that the Drum tobacco at 7/11 is an American knock off of Dutch "halfzwag shag" tobacco. I know because from around the late 90's till around 2000 I couln't buy Drum until the knock off came about. I would wonder if something similar happened several times in the past to keep the brand alive. I would tend to believe that this does have to be the closest tie brand name wise somehow to current cigarette brands that existed in 1909-11 that issued cards. If it is true, funny that Drum was one of the rarest backs then yet still is out there. Maybe just coincedence though as modern Drum is handroll tobacco and the only handroll or scrap tobacco then was of course Polar Bear. Anyone ever seen a Drum wrapper from T-Card period? Great question, I would love to hear anyone else's thoughts.
