Yes, I understand that auto talk can be bad --- probably chose the wrong screen name here huh?

I collect both, but have enjoyed the signed stuff more as of late. My collection includes over 40 cards with SMRs higher than $5,000 --- but I don't see a challenge in the cardboard anymore and I am not trying to compete with Branca. Pretty interesting to hear everyone's views here on the cards though. I remember buying my first Mantle 52 Topps (then raw but gorgeous, ended up grading a PSA 8) for $8,000 some years back and my wife was going to kill me. Now I regret selling it for $40K !!!
