jay behrensHow about an even easier solution. And SGC doesn't have to look any further than it's comic slabbing conterpart. Green labels and grades for unaltered cards with notes as to defects and red lables for alterd cards with notes as to alteration. You can still grade the red labels too. But just like in the comic world, red lables would end being worth much less than it's green counterpart.
I really don't see a problem with a red label card graded 96 and noted as trimmed on the label. The card will sell accordingly, there is no deception and all problems are known.
