After looking at that, I agree with you...I'm also surprised that the Feller card isn't pictured on the site, but Elbie Fletcher is. As the description says, the "Creamy" versions were made by Goudey in Canada, so it is likely an update of the original set with a few guys added in. The set having Doerr would definitely lead one to believe that the set was produced in 1937 as you said.
Doerr even seems an odd choice for a 1937 set, especially one that included only 25 cards...he only played in 55 games that year and hit about .220. If memory serves, I believe he was a highly touted prospect, so that may account for it.
Interesting that DiMaggio is still in a Seals uniform on his card...figure they would have gotten a shot of him as a Yankee.
