ramram1885 African-American John (Jack) Frye Team Cabinet. Large format cabinet-style team photograph (10.5 x 13.5 inches) of the integrated Lock Haven Baseball Club, the "Champions of Pennsylvania." Photograph includes John H. (Jack) Frye, one of the first two African-American players to break into the white professional leagues (in 1885). Only known original photograph of Frye. The photograph apparently once belonged personally to Frye. On the reverse are period notations which read (in ink) "Compliments of John H. Frye of Lock Haven B.B.C. Champions of Pennsylvania 1885" and in old pencil "William Frye brother living at 635 Boas St Harrisburg Pa. Research shows that Frye's brother did indeed live at 635 Boas Street.
I'm interested in trade for unique 19th century baseball items (scorebooks, images, etc.). I also have a few other items available for trade.
