William BrumbachThere was a collector or two who has taken original 1952 Topps cards and erased the facsimile signature with a pencil eraser and had the players sign the empty box. There was a Feller on eBay recently like that and I have heard of a Mantle being done the same way.
Adam, get what ever card you want signed anywhere on the card that you want. It's your card and your autograph experience. Some people like ballpoint or fountain pen, others like Sharpie. Some people like the autograph going up one of the sides and other prefer it across, some players sign the bottom of the '52s along the border under the marquee. Some people think old cards with a nice signature looks cool, others think it's a hideous travesty. What can you do?
