Anson, I agree with you that a card is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Still, on some of the cards that I collect, I use the SMR as a general guide. Prices tend to be conservative in the SMR and it may not be as accurate as tracking ebay for six months, but I do not agree that it is useless.
