Default 1939 Playball variations

Posted By: TerryS

Andy:

I've been lurking on this board for quite awhile now, but have decided to take the plunge and join the discussion. I'm trying to complete a '39 Playball set, so your question is something up my alley. Here are the variations that I know of (not including the upper/lower case deal):

#14 Tabor - "Tabor batted .295" vs. "Tabor batted 295"
#24 Coffman - "Senators the same year" vs. "Browns the same year"
#26 Dimaggio - "206 hits in 1938 games" vs. "206 hits in 138 games"
#41 Warneke - "the earned run department" vs. "the earned-run department"
#72 Garms - "Born: Bango, Tex." vs. "Born: Bangs, Tex."
#73 Schumacher - "Born: Dolgville, N.Y." vs. "Born: Dolgeville, N.Y."
#79 Moore - "Weight: 157 lbs." vs. "Weight: 175 lbs."
#80 Fox - "Weight: 165 lbs." vs. "Weight: 157 lbs."
#86 Camilli - "start of the 1928 season" vs. "start of the 1938 season"
#101 Cramer - "the Martinburg club" vs. "the Martinsburg club"
#104 Bridges - "280 games, winning 283" vs. "280 games, winning 133"
#112 Waner - "Waner, the older" vs. "Waner, the elder"

I personally don't pay much attention to the variations, although I think Tommy Bridges turned quite a trick in winning 283 games out of 280 appearances!
Hope this helps.
