Default Hunt's Auction Results

Posted By: Richard Simon

In response to posts on this thread from Jay and Elliott I would say that Jay you are correct and Elliott you are incorrect.
I have sat at many a live auction, Phillips, Lelands, Christie's, Sotheby's, Guernsey's, etc. I also worked for Phillips and Guernsey's as a consultant, and assisted during the actual auction as they were ongoing.
As far as I can remember, these auctions ALWAYS gave precedence to the bid that was ON THE BOOK, over a live bid. The $2600 absentee bid of Bob's should have taken precedence over the live bid of $2600. ANY OTHER auction that I have seen would have made the live bidder bid $2700. Earlier bids should always have precedence, wherever they come from.
