I think you've hit it on the head. They're not using the trained monkeys anymore. The "just out of high school" group that couldn't make it in fast food are now "making it" by grading our cards. I think there is some type of tax benefit for hiring these otherwise unemployable individuals. Does this concern me - heck yes it does, what are they going to do with the trained monkeys? What a waste of talent.
