I wonder what kind of provenance was supplied for each uniform? (e.g: "bought directly from family", "bought from mysterious person who was close friend of family - they prefer to avoid publicity so will remain anonymous").

Whatever the provenance was, it was good enough for both Halper and Sotheby's - that's what is disturbing, and why Robert's "mission" to require authenticators to perform due diligence, is so important.
