I guess anything is possible, but I've had probably close to 1,000 cards graded by SGC and so far so good.
In fairness to GAI, these cards were all graded over 6 months ago and I believe they have since fixed the holdering problem they had back then. I wasn't the only one whose cards were slipping and even issues like 1976 Topps were having the same problem. It had something to do with the insert and they process of slabbing.
It's been a while since I've seen or heard of other examples like this and I assume it is because they've fixed the problem.
They also did their best to make the situation right with me, so I actually don't have any beef with GAI.
For me, the bottom line is that SGC's holders look the best and offer the best protection, in my experience. Their consistency in grading is just a bonus.
