I personally believe the internet and ebay over the last few years have spawned the rapid growth in interest in caramel cards. First of all, with ebay it has become very apparent that caramel cards are waaaay less frequently seen than the common (T206, T205, etc) tobacco issues. Also, the internet, with all its visuals (ebay listings, personal sites, etc) has made the features of the various caramel sets and individual cards more accessible, and thus more attractive to attempt to collect them.

That, and it was about time--they had spent enough time in the basement with the sack of potatoes growing 'eyes'.
