Hi Scott:

My somewhat educated guess is the the term was used as a term of endearment for Roger Bresnahan, who was a
player/manager for St. Louis. Just as the term "NAPS" was a label used as a nickname for Cleveland after Napoleon LaJoie's association with that team.
