Up for sale today is a very tough to find Rookie Card of one of the Original 5 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Christy Mathewson. The top-tier W600 Hall of Famers rarely come up for sale and when they do, the prices for mid-grade examples tend to be extraordinary (March Goodwin & Co. Auction - SGC 4 Honus Wagner @ $52K). This item presents the opportunity to pick up a major Hall of Famer in low-grade condition at a fraction of that price. As you can see from the enlarged scans of the front and back, the Matty image presents very well with the reason for the "Authentic - Altered" grade given by Becket being an approximately 1 3/4" repair done to the top-center portion of the card (mainly visible from the front and top edge of the card, where a piece of the green border, likely coming from another W600 card, has been reattached.

Despite the alteration, this is a rare opportunity to pick up a W600 Matty at an affordable price as I am asking $1,750 dlvd. for this one.
