DJAfter Don DeLillo wrote his epic book which chronicled on a small level the whereabouts of the ball, I made it my mission to attempt to locate the famed sphere in a three month project that I would document for an article at the time for SCD (yuck!). I contacted roughly thirty people from the players themselves (Pafko and Thomson) to the Hall Of Fame to auction houses to authors (like DeLillo) and there is no way to put a history to that ball at this point. What I came up with is that the baseball was in the hands of a small boy who was detailed in a first hand account by someone sitting a few rows back and was described then, according to one Hall Of Fame document that I copied. That small boy is probably an older gentleman and that ball is probably sitting unmarked in a shoebox somewhere, after probably spending time in the mouth of a slobbering dog.
