Plus Ruth's first full contract with Boston would have been the previous year, 1915. He played a few games for the Red Sox in '14 after being purchased from the Orioles and was sent to their International League team in Providence RI for the rest of the season for experience. He played the whole 1915 season with the big club so would have had a real Boston contract that year.
