Todd SchultzAccording to Marc Okkenen's book on uniforms:
1. the Cardinals didn't wear that dark cap until 1940, so that seems to be the earliest date for your photo.
2. throughout the 40's, the Cardinals' socks had three rings when they wore their home whites, and two rings when they wore their road grays. Your photo shows three rings, even though I would have guessed this to be a road uni, as the socks appear to be lighter and becuase Burke was out of Chicago (although St. Louis would not have been much of a road trip).
3. during the war years 1942-45 the Cardinals wore a patch supporting the troops on their left shoulder. Hard to tell here, but it doesn't appear that there is any such patch.
4. White uniforms were worn with dark sleeve undershirt, grays with white undershirt. Alas, your guy wore no undershirt.
My guess is 1940 or 1941.
