Thanks for that great info Rhys. I'll look into Bower's career when I get a few extra minutes. I have 2 of these postcards, identical except for the fact that one is marked 1907 on the front, the other isn't.

I picked up this football postcard at a flea market today. It looks to me based on the uniform and football to be a late 1890's player. Not a great postcard or anything, and the picture is pretty blurry, but for a buck, I couldn't pass it up.
