Default Starting 1933 Goudey Set

I am thinking about starting up a 1933 Goudey baseball set, and I wanted to know if there are any publications regarding this product, or if there are any specific ways to tell a reprint from an authentic? I wanted to try to buy all the cards raw, instead of graded, in hopes of keeping costs low.
What is everyone's opinion, suggestion?
