If they are t206s, etc, then I doubt your grandfather actually got the cards when they were issued. He'd have to be well over 100 years old if still alive and both he and his child had to have kids really late in life for a 26yo to get t-cards from Gramps. Most likely he got them from his dad or got really lucky in all that trash he collected. The other thing that doesn't jibe is the buying of chewing tobacco and saving the cards. If this is the case, then you most likely have Red Man Tobacco cards, which would makes a little more sense for your age, but means Gramps is really young.

None the less, you still got a start on collecting that most of use would envy regarless of when the cards were issued.
