There is lots of sense in the rule that you can't bet on baseball and be an active player or manager. And there is every reason for being unwavering in the punishment when one gets caught. However, the thoroughness of the investigations brought to bear on some, should be equal to that exerted on all, independent of whether their names are Jackson, Cobb, Speaker or anyone else.

After a good start, the Hall of Fame has since diluted itself with its membership selections, in my estimation.
