jay behrensGreat story. You could substitute me as the guy looking like a punk rocker and that would be in the early 80s when I first moved to CA. Most dealers had serious reservation about letting me see any big ticket vintage cards since I am sure they assumed I was looking to run off with them. Mark Macrae was the only dealer that bothered to spend any time talking to me.
Seeing me set up at a show, I was totally the opposite, usually wearing a dress shirt and somet times a tie. One of the best buys I ever made at a show was from an elderly lady that sold me all her husbands Goudeys. I asked her if she ahd gotten some offered from other deaelers and she said she wanted to sell them to me because I was the only dealer wearing a tie.
