I had the same issues before I bought the lot, so I consulted a bunch of folks (David Bryan, Lew Lipset and Frank Ward among others). Unforutnately, the only sort of consensus I could come up with was without the advertising on the back there is no definitive way to tell the difference between some of the sets of this era. That is also the opinion expressed in the SCD bible.

Frank believed there was a difference in thickness of the card stock, but the others seemed not to agree or were non-committal.
