Marc S.I do agree that the card may have gone very high had there not been one of the top two bidders involved. This does happen quite frequently, as Leon so succinctly illustrated.
I was pointing out, however, that there are numerous times that two (egos, snipe hounds, set collectors) drive card prices to silly levels that would definitely not be realized without that second bidder. The best example is the 1967 Topps Don Demeter PSA 8 that just sold for $1,175. That is just silly.
