As someone who has sold and bought a lot of autographed cards, from old to new, potential collectors should note that how the signature presents (especially condition and contrast against the card) is much more important than the condition of the card (though the card should present well on its own). I would much, much rather have a Mint signature on a Vg card, than a Vg signature on a Mint card.
