Irrelevant to authenticity issues, the thing that I've never understood, is why people buy some really expensive (say over $1,000) from someone they've never dealt with before and has no reputation. The first time I bid in a Sotheby's or a Leland's auction I was a bit nervous, because you can never be sure beforehand of the quality of their grading, service, etc.
