Brian HMy experience with PSA and Mayos has been simply that they are overly concerned with the backs. I have also had 2 returned that were (unbeknownest to me when I bought them) recolored.
I have noticed that PSA has started to grade "hand cut" stip cards (many W-cards of the 1920's) which they used to refuse to grade. I have also seen cards that PSA recently has refused to grade including Cuban Auguilatas card from the mid 1920's . While I have heard that they will now grade larger cards, T3s especially, I have yet to see one on Ebay....
BTW -- how recently did PSA dismiss its nameless vintage grader ?
