HankonAssuming the seller is reliable, its relatively safe buying the baseball tobacco albums. I've never seen a counterfeit, and the reason is simple: it's so much easier faking a little card than an entire book. A problem with this particular album is that (I think) the binding is modern. Unless I am mistaken, each page has 2 or 3 little holes on the edges and the album was originally bound by string or ribbon tied through the holes. Sort of like a spiral notebook, except ribbon instead of wire. Still, most tobacco albums are in rough shape one way or other, including all those single pages floating around-- so it's not like waiting for the perfect 1987 Fleer Barry Bonds. All complete baseball tobacco albums are Honus Wagner rare, and worth the price as they essentially contain the complete set of cards.
