To me the desirability of a card that has been punched depends on the location of the punch(es). Here is an example I think most people would find unappealing:

A nice looking card, just an unfortunate gaping hole in Ty's eye socket. Put it down in the lower half of the card, and a lower condition collector like myself would love to add it to his collection.
