Just a quick note for all of you who are interested in old baseball photographs:

The Photograph Galleries have been completed on the VintageBall Web Site (http://www.vintageball.com) -- a non-commercial site focusing on baseball history through ephemera.

The Photo Galleries can be found at http://www.vintageball.com/Photographs.html and include over 130 photos in the following gallery sections:

This gallery includes the first view of African-Americans playing baseball and a spotlight on two early players, one of whom was part of the trade bringing Honus Wagner to Pittsburgh.

-- 1900-09: This gallery showcases such major league talent as the 1903 New York Giants and Edward "Tubby" Spencer, in addition to local players. Photo types include cabinet cards, others. Two spotlights feature a prominent member of the Boston Red Sox along with an array of photos of the 1908 Brooklyn Dodgers, including star pitcher, Nap Rucker.

Other major league players include Fred Clarke, Bill Doak, Duffy Lewis, Red Murray, Jeff Tesreau and others.

--1920-29: With special spotlights on the George "Highpockets" Kelly estate and Ruth & Gehrig in the Twenties, this gallery highlights both major and minor league players from across the country. Big league players include Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker, Dutch Ruether, Wally Pipp, Mark Koenig, Bob Meusel and more, along with a photo by Paul Thompson.

--1930-39: Featured are special spotlights on Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, including an historic photo of The Iron Horse's official retirement. Also showcased is the 1931 Tour of Japan as well as such stars as Joe DiMaggio, Carl Hubbell, Connie Mack, Dizzy Dean, Mickey Cochrane and more. News service, studio and private photographs are included.

--1940-69: A great spotlight on World War II Baseball is included, along with special areas on the 1953 New York Yankees & Brooklyn Dodgers and A Young Mickey Mantle. This gallery includes such top names as Mel Ott, Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Hank Greenberg, Roger Maris, Frank Crosetti, Dom DiMaggio and others.

A special thanks to all the board members who contributed to these galleries in the form of images and identifications. Many more photos included, however, are in need of identifications, so any help on this front is definitely appreciated!
