Default Want a field trip to find your favorite ballplayer's gravesite?

I'm not really a big fan of Graveyards, but I did go by Joe Jackson's grave in Greenville and it is well worth the time. The Cemetary is on Wade Hampton Blvd accross the street from Bob Jones University and right around the corner from Furman. Jackson's gravesite is like a shrine, it's always adorned with balls, bats and gloves left by admirers. While in Greenville you should also visit the Restored Mill field where Jackson started playing ball, it's in Brandon an old mill town which is now a suberb of Greenville.
Ty Cobbs tomb in Royston , GA is also worth the short 15 min ride off Interstate 85 about 45 min south of Greenville and an hour north of Atlanta.
Cobb's tomb dominates the graveyard which is located around the corner from the hospital Cobb donated to the town. His daughters home is only a short distance from the cemetary, but I don't think it's marked anymore. While Cobb may have been a jerk to everyone else, he did spend alot of money to upgrade his community. Happy visiting brian
