MWIt is difficult to say whether John Dockman's (or anyone else's) early experiments with "gum" produced a confection that was closer to candy or modern-day gum. The "E" designation DOES stand for "Early Candy & Gum" cards in the American Card Catalog, however. To that extent, the 1933 Goudey set was not the first to advertise "gum" as an additive in its packs.
