JOE TINKER AUTOGRAPHED CHECK This original Chicago Cubs check is dated January 2nd 1917 and was written to Hall of Fame member Joe Tinker. Housed in a PSA/DNA slab The check is hand-signed by Walter Craighead (D. 1920) & Charles Weeghman (D. 1938). The check is signed on the back by Joe Tinker (D. 1948). Tinker played from 1902 through 1916 for the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball and the Chicago Whales of the Federal League, later as manager and coach and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946. Walter Craighead was the business manager of the Chicago Cubs during the late 1910s, He was responsible for ticket sales and logistics, notably announcing ticket details for the 1918 World Series, in which the Cubs faced the Boston Red Sox. Craighead played a vital behind-the-scenes role in maintaining the club’s financial stability during a period of wartime challenges and competitive baseball. Charles Weeghman was a prominent baseball executive best known for founding the Chicago Whales of the Federal League and later becoming the first owner of the Chicago Cubs after purchasing the team in 1916. He played a pivotal role in shaping the franchise by moving the Cubs into Weeghman Park, which was later renamed Wrigley Field. Weeghman was an ambitious promoter who sought to modernize baseball with innovations such as allowing fans to keep foul balls. However, financial struggles following the collapse of the Federal League and World War I led to his exit from the Cubs in 1919, when William Wrigley Jr. took full control of the team. JOHNNY EVERS AUTOGRAPHED CHECK This original Chicago Cubs check is dated November 30th 1920 and was written to Hall of Fame member Johnny Evers. Housed in a PSA/DNA slab. The check is hand signed by William Veeck Sr. (D. 1933) The check is signed on the back by Johnny Evers (D. 1946) Hall of Fame second baseman and manager. He played in Major League Baseball from 1902 through 1917 for the Chicago Cubs, Boston Braves, and Philadelphia Phillies. He also appeared in one game apiece for the Chicago White Sox and Braves while coaching them in 1922 and 1929. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1946. William Veeck Sr. was an American sportswriter and baseball executive. He was president of the Chicago Cubs from 1919 to his death in October, 1933. Under Veeck's leadership, the Cubs won two pennants, in 1929 and 1932. Astonishingly RARE $3,500.00
