Example here:

In early 1888 the glass plate negative was marked with name, position, and team (DETROITS). Some time after Brouthers signed with Boston (Oct 16, 1888), the Goodwin negatives were updated to Boston (likely happened early 1889).

The albumen print is likely from 1889 but not sure how it ended up on Conly mount. It is possible that Conly made Old Judge cards and cabinets for Goodwin but havent seen other examples of on Conly mounts.

Might study print and mount a little closer to see if damage and markings match such as the crease at upper left.

It is a nice image of Brouthers, could be interesting insight into who made the 1889 N172s and N173s.
Thanks guys this helps!

It has the same back as Daley, Haddock and Buffington in the following lot REA sold from 1891:

I bought it from a very reputable dealer who is an expert in this era photographs so I really don't think it was rebacked. Is it possible that Conly purchased the rights of the photo to use around 1891 as he was still in Boston at this time? (1889-91) Are there any other examples of Studios buying from Goodwin to reissue Cabinets around this time?
