This is such a great ticket stub.
May 31,1964 San Francisco Giants at New York Mets - Doubleheader
What would be the
longest doubleheader in the history of baseball and still is as of today. 9 hours and 52 minutes of baseball!!!!!
Game 1 Giants win 5-3 in 2 hours 29 mins
Game 2 Giants win 8-6 in 23 innings 7 hours 23 mins
In the 10th inning
Mays goes to shortstop. He would play SS
only twice in his 23 years in baseball.
Mets complete a
triple play in the top of the 14th to get out of a jam.
Gaylord Perry enters the game in the 13th inning and pitches
10 innings in RELIEF to get the Win.
Mays went 1 for 10, I have to assume that was his worst hitting performance of his big league career. Mays entered this game with a .382 BA.
The whole game is a great read here:

There is some writing on the top of the ticket, which adds character:
"Giants-2.....2nd 23 inn"
