It didn't take any kind of genius to see that MLB partnering with international sports gambling companies was not going to end well. You've got local sports radio sponsored by gambling companies. Hosts reading commercials enticing their audiences to gamble. Baseball broadcasts with announcers also reading gambling commercials with graphics giving the latest odds.
So now that the commercials have worked, and MLB has created an entire legion of addicted gamblers, we're surprised that the losers are becoming unglued? What did these idiots expect would happen?
The MLB Players Association entered into licensing agreements with gambling companies, so it's on them. Maybe the next CBA can deal with this. Maybe for once, players and owners will understand what happens when you sell your soul for money. It's kinda tough to work up a lot of sympathy for the players if they voted for this.
