Absolutely True - I'm a retired IT guy from a large University and have dealt with these kinda guys for many years.
Couple of quick notes:
If you can get into your email client and find the
"View Headers" information - you should be able to determine exactly who is doing the send on these (really sure its not going to be who it appears to be in the emails themselves)
From there its a fairly simple matter to BLOCK the real sender(s).
If the "headers" are a bit much - then just forward them to your internet service provider and I'm sure they will be more than happy to assist.
