New wrinkle - the regular and gold sheets all have 1991 stats and card numbers match the regular sets. I was initially confuse by your comments about stats and card numbers, but then I realized TCDB lists 9 pre-production cards which don't seem to have been issued in sheet form, lack 1991 stats and and have non-corresponding card numbers. Player selection also differs partly from the sheets. See the Nixon here. Also, the diamond on the back is oval on these samples.

If the sheets were given away at shows, does anyone know how these oval-backed cards were distributed? Obviously it was well in advance of the set's production as the final reverse design hadn't been set and 1991 stats weren't available yet.
