its something that is near impossible to fathom in a modern context. i'm convinced its a big part of why there's a large gap of relating him over a century later to today's game and our conceptions and standards of baseball. can only imagine having the ability to watch today's game then be able to go back and watch him pitch a season. you'd have to completely rework your conception of what baseball is and what is possible within that framework.
part of what makes him and his place in history so utterly remarkable.
